Portpatrick, on the western edge of Wigtownshire, is the closest point in south west Scotland to Ireland. Located in the gulfstream, the area enjoys a mild climate which enables sub-tropical plants, trees and golfers to flourish.

From Glasgow or Prestwick Airport: (90 minutes drive from Prestwick airport) Take the M77/A77 southbound from Glasgow, past Prestwick and Ayr to Stranraer. Continue through Stranraer on the A77 to Portpatrick (turning right 1.5 miles out of Stranraer, at Lochans, but remaining on the A77). On entering Portpatrick, turn right in front of the War Memorial, and then take the second right up Golf Course Road. "Saffron" is the last house on the left before the Golf Club.
From Carlisle: From the M6, continue on the A74 northbound to Gretna Green. Then take the A75 through Dumfries and a further 66 miles westwards towards Stranraer until you reach Glenluce. Having passed Glenluce, take the first left onto the B7084 towards Portpatrick. This turns into the B7077. At the T junction with the A716 turn right towards Stranraer and then after 500 yds turn first left towards Lochans. At the T junction in Lochans turn left towards Portpatrick on the A77. On entering Portpatrick, turn right in front of the War Memorial, and then take the second right up Golf Course Road. "Saffron" is the last house on the left before the Golf Club.
